quality ␈ εterminals. ␈ εWe ␈ εonly ␈ εwish ␈ εit ␈ εwere ␈ εfeasible ␈ εto ␈ εinclude ␈ εa ␈ εfast, ␈ εsilent, ␈ εfully ␈ εcapable ␈ εhard ␈ ¬copy ␈ ¬device ␈ ¬with ␈ ¬the
terminal. Perhaps a telephone based facsimile machine will do for experiments in spite of its slowness. If we can get them
soon enough, a single terminal version of the display system devised by Peter Wiener at Yale would be good.

	 ␈ π2. ␈ πCommunication. ␈ πFor ␈ πour ␈ πexperimental ␈ πremote ␈ εterminals, ␈ εwe ␈ εexpect ␈ εto ␈ εuse ␈ εprivate ␈ εlines ␈ εleased ␈ εfrom ␈ εthe
telephone company. They are available and reasonably economical.

	 ␈ α3. ␈ αAn ␈ αincrease ␈ αin ␈ αprocessing ␈ αpower ␈ α- ␈ αa ␈ αKI10 ␈ αor ␈ αpart ␈ αof ␈ αFoonly. ␈ αThe ␈ αKI10 ␈ αis ␈ ↓D.E.C.'s ␈ ↓higher ␈ ↓speed ␈ ↓version ␈ ↓of ␈ ↓the
PDP-10 ␈ ↓processor, ␈ ↓and ␈ ↓Foonly ␈ ↓is ␈ ↓a ␈ ↓much ␈ ↓higher ␈ ↓speed ␈ ↓processor ␈ ↓being ␈ ↓designed in our laboratory,but whether Foonly will
be ␈ βbuilt ␈ βis ␈ βpresently ␈ βuncertain. ␈ βIn ␈ βeither ␈ βcase, ␈ βthis ␈ βgrant ␈ βwould ␈ βbear ␈ βonly ␈ βabout ␈ βa ␈ αquarter ␈ αof ␈ αthe ␈ αcost ␈ αof ␈ αthe ␈ αincreased
processing speed required.
